Holbox Island offers all sorts of fishing adventures to fill your needs. There are several charter services that can create the perfect fishing excursion for you. Personally I like freshwater fishing and I want to go for the fly fishing trip. Below is a collection of fishing videos from all around and from Holbox Island.
The best months to fish Isla Holbox are from June to August. This is when different species migrate to the area creating an opportunity for a greater variety of fish to catch. Among the most common fish to find are esmedregal, bonefish, barracuda, snapper, permit and mackerel. Year round you can find tarpon and snook.
Where Is Holbox Island (Map)?
Isla Holbox (Holbox Island) is located on the northernmost part of the Yucatan Peninsula. The drive is about 2 hours and can be faster by small plane. Yes, Holbox has an airport called Aeródromo de Holbox (airport code is: HOL). There are two ferry companies that launch every half hour. The companies names are Holbox Express and 9 Hermanos. Traveling across Yalahao lagoon takes about 20 to 30 minutes. The city where you will be parking or embarking from is Chiquila mexico.
