Los Cabos is the municipality at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula — really two cities, Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, plus the 20-mile resort corridor between them. Cabo San Lucas is the louder, sport-fishing, party-leaning side; San José del Cabo is older, calmer, with a proper colonial-era plaza and an art district. The Sea of Cortez (called the ‘aquarium of the world’ by Jacques Cousteau) is on the east side; the Pacific on the west. They literally meet at El Arco, the iconic rock arch at Land’s End.
