Things to Do in Los Cabos (Cabo San Lucas + San José del Cabo)
Los Cabos is the municipality at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula — really two cities, Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, plus the 20-mile resort corridor between them. Cabo San Lucas is the louder, sport-fishing, party-leaning side; San José del Cabo is older, calmer, with a proper colonial-era plaza and an art district. The Sea of Cortez (called the ‘aquarium of the world’ by Jacques Cousteau) is on the east side; the Pacific on the west. They literally meet at El Arco, the iconic rock arch at Land’s End.
Quick Facts: Los Cabos (Cabo San Lucas + San José del Cabo) is in Mexico. Best time to visit: October–May is the sweet spot — dry, mild, prime fishing. Summer is hot (95°F+), with a small chance of a Pacific hurricane brushing through August-October.

Top 11 Things to Do in Los Cabos (Cabo San Lucas + San José del Cabo)
El Arco at Land’s End
Natural rock arch where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. Water-taxi from the Cabo marina (~$15-20 per person) drops you at Lover’s Beach for the photo.
Lover’s Beach & Divorce Beach
Two beaches, one isthmus. Lover’s (Sea of Cortez side) is calm and swimmable; Divorce (Pacific side) has dangerous surf — admire from above.
Sportfishing Charters
Cabo is the marlin capital of the world. Half-day and full-day charters from the marina target marlin, dorado, yellowfin, and roosterfish. Catch-and-release is encouraged.
Whale Watching (Dec–Apr)
Gray whales migrate down the Pacific to nearby Magdalena Bay; humpbacks come into the Sea of Cortez. Boat tours run from both Cabo San Lucas and San José.
Medano Beach
The main swimmable beach in Cabo San Lucas — long, lively, lined with palapa beach clubs (Mango Deck, Office, Billygan’s). Day-pass scene.
San José del Cabo Art Walk
Thursday evenings November-June. Galleries open late, streets close to traffic, mariachi and food stalls. The most cultural night of the week.
Cabo Pulmo Marine Park
60 miles up the East Cape — the only living hard-coral reef in the Sea of Cortez. Snorkeling and diving with bull sharks, sea lions, schools of jacks. Day trip from Cabo.
Camel Safari & ATV
Outside Cabo, the desert gets dramatic — cardón cactus, rocky arroyos, Pacific dunes. Outfitters combine ATV runs with a camel ride and tequila tasting.
Todos Santos Day Trip
An hour north on the Pacific side. Pueblo Mágico designation, Hotel California (the song dispute aside), surf at Cerritos Beach.
Costa Azul Surf
Just outside San José — Mexico’s most consistent right-point break (Zippers) breaks here through the summer south swells.
Glass-Bottom Boat to El Arco
Slower, family-friendly alternative to the water-taxi shuttle. Loops through the rock arches and Land’s End sea lion colony.
