The Daytona Beach Boardwalk 2021:

Daytona Beach Bandshell

The Daytona Beach Boardwalk has undergone many changes over the years.  Two of the main icons in the area (the Sandblaster Roller Coaster and Ferris Wheel) are now gone.  The Ferris Wheel was removed in 2014 for repairs and never returned.

In 2017 there was an accident that injured up to 10 people and two people fell 30 plus feet.  No one was killed but there was an investigation into poor maintenance and owner negligence.

You can watch a video here to learn more about that accident.  Curious about what the Daytona Beach oceanfront looked like in 2013 with a working roller coaster and Ferris Wheel?  This video almost made me cry (Daytona Beach 2013).

Daytona Beach Shores Screamers Park

Today (April 2021), there is an empty lot where the roller coaster once was.  The Ferris Wheel was replaced with Screamers Park and the two insane rides they have installed there (Vomatron & the Slingshot).  The best part of the boardwalk is the Oceanwalk area.  The area where the roller coaster was is just an empty lot now.

Overall the area is looking better and better.  Even with the empty lot or two you can see growth in the local area.  At least they cleaned up the roller coaster by removing it.
