Things to Do in Curaçao

Curaçao is a Dutch Caribbean island about 40 miles off the Venezuelan coast and 50 miles east of Aruba — the largest of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao). It’s a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The capital, Willemstad, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its 17th-century Dutch colonial architecture (the candy-colored Handelskade waterfront is the iconic image). Outside Willemstad the island is dry, hilly, and dotted with about 35 named beaches — many of them quiet, with car-only access and no facilities. Outside the hurricane belt, like Aruba.
