Brian Hoffman has performed as Red Skelton for over fifteen years, and his Remembering Red tribute anchors a small theater at the Shops of Pigeon Forge, on Teaster Lane at East Wears Valley Road. The show recreates a very specific legacy: Skelton's television run from 1951 to 1971, nearly 700 episodes of wordplay, pantomime and characters — Freddie the Freeloader, Clem Kadiddlehopper — that Hoffman rebuilds nightly, down to Freddie's hats, handmade by D Bar J in Las Vegas.

Mountain Fun Life's morning interview is the explainer: how you recreate humor built on wordplay and silence, and the scale of what is being honored — Vincennes, Indiana still holds a Red Skelton festival. The hour-long What's Up Gatlinburg conversation gives Hoffman the long form: the road from Las Vegas to the Smoky Mountains, told by the man who walked it.
The theater
WBIR's news package documents the naming: Hoffman renamed the theater the Red Skelton Tribute Theatre, reopening February 12, 2019. (The station's caption track on that upload is corrupt — the film is here as watch content, and the date is as the station reported it.) The show's own channel contributes the montage and the in-theater performance; the Guzzler's Gin routine — Skelton's tipsy signature — is here via the Knoxville Daily Sun.

Ms. Pam's interview sits Hoffman down in character as Clem Kadiddlehopper, which is its own kind of evidence about the act, and a 2022 film catches him performing at the National Quartet Convention in Pigeon Forge — the tribute traveling beyond its own stage.
