The statue stands in SEVIERVILLE — Dolly Parton's hometown, one town over from Pigeon Forge — on the Sevier County Courthouse lawn, where it was placed in 1987: Dolly seated with her guitar, a butterfly worked into the detail. She said more than once, in the clip from Visit Sevierville on this page, that of everything in her career the statue in her hometown courthouse yard was one of the honors she was proudest of — and that her father used it to keep her from getting cocky. Dolly Parton died on August 25, 2026, and the statue has become Sevierville's place to remember her; the film at position 8 was shot there that day, fans arriving with flowers.

Two long tours walk the whole of Dolly's Sevierville: the statue with its backstory (she has been photographed standing beside it herself), the 2022 courthouse mural, her childhood hangouts downtown, her Tennessee mountain home and the family gravesite. Local layers accrete: bars from the 1856 jail that burned with the first courthouse survive as storm-drain grates downtown.
The square itself
The courthouse lawn doubles as a memorial park: honor rolls of Sevier County's war dead from World War I onward ring the square, with accessible parking and benches. Locals tell every visitor a standing story about the statue — Yankee in the South's 2018 stop records that they heard it too.

The October 2026 visit on this page, two months on, shows the statue settled into its new role: the town's gathering place. Nothing here is staged; it is neighbors and fans swapping stories about what she meant to the Smokies — a hometown girl who never forgot her roots, and who put the whole area on the map.
