The giant red-and-yellow barn on the Parkway runs the Smokies' longest formula: clean comedy, live music, juggling, a ventriloquist, a dog act and heavy audience participation — volunteers pulled on stage make every performance a little different. Unusually for a theater, the Comedy Barn lets cameras in, so this page holds something rare: full performances filmed from inside the room, including a complete 2016 show and a vintage 2003 routine.

Adventure Is Out There's film is mostly the show itself: host Danny Devaney pulls a volunteer named Daniel on stage for the plate-spinning bit — plates on a stick, balanced on a helmet, 'do not nod.' The theater's own clips capture the Barn's most famous phenomenon: the audience member whose laugh steals the show, twice over, in the story-time segment and Eric Lambert's act.
Backstage
Smoky Mountain Family were granted all-access filming — 'just about anywhere in the theater' — and their record includes drummer Matt Duffy on the job: 'it's fun… never the same.' The cast's own summary: backstage is ten times the fun of onstage. It is the only behind-the-curtain document of a Parkway institution on this site.

Running time is about two hours as filmed; the 8 o'clock show is the one two reviewers chose. Yankee in the South's favorites are the dog act and the laughs, with the practical tip that Frizzle Chicken next door is the pre-show dinner move. The human xylophone — tunes tapped out on a volunteer's head — appears in its 2003 vintage form at the end of the page.
