The community built around the future
Lake Nona flips the usual Orlando script: a community about what comes next, 20 minutes from downtown. ChadGallivanter's tour on this page opens with the scale of the change — cow pastures and 1,500 residents at the turn of the century, well north of 64,000 people now — and tours the Town Center and the Wave hotel as the new anchors.
Boxi Park
The social center is Boxi Park, opened in 2019: a park built from brightly painted shipping containers packed with food stalls and bars, with live music and room to sprawl. The container-by-container walk here names the order: Claw & Order for hot and cold lobster rolls, Foul Play for chicken sandwiches and wings, Hops for drinks — tacos, barbecue, seafood, and vegan bites fill the rest. The 2019 food tour here, filmed when it was brand new, already had the lobster roll on brioche figured out.
The hidden neighbor
Two separate visits on this page stumbled onto the same secret: the Lake Nona Sculpture Garden sits maybe 40–50 steps up the road behind a hotel, and people visit Boxi Park repeatedly without knowing it exists. Go find it first, then eat.
One dated note
A 2022 guide in this set discusses Disney's announced Lake Nona campus as future news; Disney cancelled that project in May 2023, and that video's catalog entry says so. The town itself never slowed down — the cancellation is a footnote, not the story.
