The rides on top of the tower
The STRAT's thrill rides sit atop the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States, and the narrated anchor stay builds its whole visit around them: the SkyPod decks, the rides given their fullest treatment of any film here, Atomic Golf next door, the refreshed resort below (filmed into New Year 2025). The current ride roster, as the films present it: Big Shot, which launches riders up the mast; X-Scream, the teeter-totter over the edge; and SkyJump, the controlled descent. One honest absence, stated plainly because older coverage still shows it everywhere: Insanity, the spinning arm that dangled riders over the edge, has been removed — it is not part of the current lineup, and no film on this page presents it as current.
SkyJump, heard as riders hear it
Three films jump. The highlight reel (2015) and the coaster channel's ride film (2016) are mostly ride audio — the jump is the content — and load as watch entries. The keeper is the rider's-eye film (2018): the full protocol on the 108th floor, 855 feet up — the red and backup 5,000-pound lines, the safety checks read aloud, feet on the yellow line, and the count — the jump crew's own patter plus one first-timer's honest nerves. Its catalog note calls it a borderline keep, and we agree with the reasoning: short, but all signal. This is the film to watch if you're deciding whether the floor dropping away is for you.
The deck beneath them
The SkyPod tour (watch content) rides up to the observation levels the rides launch from — views down the Strip and across the valley — and the history feature frames the tower as the city's front door: inside Las Vegas city limits, just past where the Strip technically ends, the Gateway Arch and showgirl statues at the boulevard's north gate, SkyPod floors 108 and 109 toured. The weekend-stay film prices the top as filmed (2024): tower admission $10–$15, ride packages $36–$41, the pass good all day until midnight. Our STRAT page covers the hotel; this page is the reason its roof is famous.
