The big three day trips
The Grand Canyon bus tour gets a complete worth-it audit (2025): an $8 Uber to the Excalibur pickup, the early start, the rim ('so majestic, it blew my mind'), home by 10 p.m. Death Valley in less than 24 hours: the visitor center first, then Devil's Golf Course — jagged salt terrain 'so rough only the devil would play here' — and the salt flats, dunes and viewpoints in the one-day order full-time travelers swear by. Valley of Fire's eight must-see spots come from a return visit — the first overwhelmed the host into putting the camera down; the park rewards a plan, and this film is one.
For hikers and engineers
Dale's Trail at Red Rock is the linked-route film: the baseline connector from Pine Creek Canyon toward Ice Box Canyon, with the local secret that baseline trailheads don't sit on the scenic drive — you reach them by hiking up the canyon trails first; route-linking advice for experienced desert hikers, White Rock and the Calico Hills in frame. Hoover Dam gets the engineering treatment: an animated documentary rebuilding the dam as if you were its designer — why Black Canyon was chosen, the river diverted through tunnels, 135 feet excavated to hard strata before the concrete rose. The best 'how was this possible' piece we have on the dam.
The far-out and the near-in
The Extraterrestrial Highway driven end to end in a day (2023): 98 miles of Route 375 beside Area 51, out of Tonopah's Clown Motel, finishing at the crashed-spaceship photo op — no signal and long empty stretches shown as they are; our Area 51 page runs the route from the Vegas side. Mount Charleston's snow guide (45 minutes from the Strip: sledding spots, the lodge, a beginner's honesty about falling down) covers the winter register. A June 2025 TV episode's lead segment tours Chinatown — five hotspots and the rage room where aggression is encouraged — and Springs Preserve (2025) closes as the near-in nature day: 180 acres, on-site cafe, outside food allowed, 'hidden gem' from first-timers who live here.
