Las Vegas Nightlife — Best Bars, Clubs & Lounges
Las Vegas invented modern nightlife. The clubs here book the biggest DJs in the world, the cocktail bars could hold their own in Tokyo or London, and the sheer variety — from rooftop infinity pools to underground speakeasies to old-school dive bars — means there’s something for every mood and budget.
Here’s the real guide.
Mega-Clubs (The Big Production)
XS (Encore) — The crown jewel. 40,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor nightclub on the pool deck at Encore. The DJ booth overlooks the pool. Resident DJs include some of the biggest names in electronic music. Cover: $30-75 (much more for special events). Dress code enforced.
Hakkasan (MGM Grand) — Five levels of nightclub and restaurant in the back of MGM Grand. The main room is massive with production values that rival a concert. Grid VIP and Ling Ling lounge upstairs are more intimate.
Marquee (The Cosmopolitan) — Indoor main room plus a dayclub/pool party that runs Friday-Sunday. The rooftop Library is a smaller, more conversational space within the same venue.
Omnia (Caesars Palace) — The former Pure, redesigned with a 22,000-pound kinetic chandelier that descends from the ceiling. The Heart of Omnia is a smaller room with a different DJ and a completely different vibe.
Zouk (Resorts World) — The newest mega-club on the Strip. Singapore’s legendary Zouk brand. Tech-forward production, excellent sound system.
Cocktail Bars & Lounges
The Chandelier (The Cosmopolitan) — Three levels of bar inside a massive crystal chandelier installation. Level 1.5 (the “secret” middle level) serves the famous Verbena cocktail — it comes with an edible flower that numbs your tongue. It’s a gimmick, but a fun one.
Herbs & Rye (off-Strip) — The best craft cocktail bar in Las Vegas. Prohibition-era decor, bartenders who actually know their stuff, and the half-price steak special (5-8 PM and after midnight).
Parasol Up / Parasol Down (Wynn) — Two connected bars with retractable parasol installations overlooking the Lake of Dreams. Gorgeous setting for a cocktail.
Skyfall Lounge (Delano) — 64th floor. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the entire Strip. Craft cocktails. The view alone is worth the drink prices.
Ghost Donkey (The Cosmopolitan) — Hidden mezcal and tequila bar. Find the plain door inside Block 16 food hall. Small, loud (in a good way), and the mezcal selection is serious.
Rooftop Bars
Skyfall Lounge (Delano, 64th floor) — See above. The undisputed king of Vegas rooftop bars.
APEX Social Club (Palms) — Open-air rooftop with Strip views. More relaxed than the mega-clubs.
Drai’s Beachclub/Afterhours (The Cromwell) — Rooftop club directly over the Strip at Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd. The after-hours parties (2 AM - 7 AM) are legendary.
Dive Bars & Old Vegas
Atomic Liquors (Fremont East) — The oldest freestanding bar in Las Vegas (1952). They used to watch nuclear test blasts from the roof. Craft cocktails in a historic setting.
Dino’s (downtown) — The real dive bar of Las Vegas. Karaoke, cheap drinks, no attitude. Cash only. Open late.
Double Down Saloon (Paradise Road) — “You puke, you clean.” Punk rock, strong drinks, no cover, and the house special is something called Ass Juice. It’s not for everyone, and that’s the point.
The Golden Tiki (Chinatown) — Over-the-top tiki bar with fog machines, a fortune teller booth, and frozen drinks in ceramic mugs you can keep. Ridiculous and fun.
Fremont Street & Downtown
Fremont Street has its own nightlife ecosystem that’s completely different from the Strip — cheaper, weirder, and more walkable.
Commonwealth — Craft cocktails and a rooftop bar overlooking Fremont. The Laundry Room speakeasy is hidden inside (text for entry).
Corduroy — Upscale cocktail lounge on Fremont East. One of the best bars in the city, period.
Circa Resort — Stadium Swim (multi-level pool amphitheater), Legacy Club (rooftop with panoramic views), and Garage Mahal (massive bar with screens everywhere).
What You Need to Know
Dress codes: Mega-clubs enforce dress codes strictly. No athletic wear, no sandals, no shorts for men. Women have more flexibility. Collared shirts and nice shoes for guys, minimum.
Cover charges: Expect $30-75+ for the mega-clubs. Guest list can reduce or eliminate cover for women and sometimes couples. Promoters on the Strip hand out guest list cards — they’re legitimate, use them.
Bottle service: If you’re in a group of 4+, bottle service at a table can actually be more cost-effective than buying individual drinks at $20+ each. Minimums start around $500-800 for a basic table.
Hours: Clubs open around 10:30 PM but don’t really get going until midnight. After-hours spots run until 6-7 AM.
