More than the oval
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is roughly 1,000 acres off the I-15 northeast of the city — far more than the NASCAR oval, as the exclusive complex tour walks it: a drag strip (the film walks the burnout box and staging lanes of The Strip at LVMS with a meet running), a dirt oval and more, racing happening on the big track as they film. The venue tour with media access (a 2020 race-weekend Friday) is the definitive inside look at the oval's signature space: the Neon Garage, a diamond-shaped fan zone with its stage at the center, second-level picnic tables and concessions, and windows straight into the working garages — plus pit road while Xfinity practice runs.
Race day, up close
The companion film spends Sunday in that garage — a ZZ Top cover band on the stage — then out on pit road as the 40-car field grinds into its grid spots (Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick; qualifying rained out, grid set on points). A fan's fall-weekend film covers the South Point 400 (October 2024, watch content), and the suite-level first-race film (South Point 400, 2022) adds the calendar note that matters for trip planning: the speedway runs events throughout the year, not just Cup weekends — with the pre-race scene where fans meet drivers and get close to the cars. (The up-close films are 2020-era; the speedway and its garage are unchanged in format, and the summaries date them.)
The conversions, and driving it yourself
Two films are first NASCAR races ever, filmed as they happen — a 2025 newcomer's whole learning curve ('my goodness, it's huge… the speed') and a lifelong Las Vegan's hometown check-off (2022) — exactly how most visitors will experience LVMS: excitement first, expertise later. Then the participatory layer: the NASCAR Racing Experience puts you alone in a full-blown stock car on the 1.5-mile oval — four-speed manual, though staff will put it in gear for you; the 2024 group's top speed was 140 mph as filmed, an on-track box blamed, cheerfully, for the record that got away. Three experience films (2024–2026) close the page as watch content: the drive, from inside the car, is the review.
