Las Vegas with Kids — Family-Friendly Attractions
Vegas is built for adults, but there’s more family-friendly stuff here than most people realize. Between the theme parks, aquariums, shows, and outdoor adventures, you can fill several days without setting foot on a casino floor.
Adventuredome at Circus Circus
The Adventuredome is a 5-acre indoor theme park inside Circus Circus with roller coasters, bumper cars, a rock climbing wall, and midway games — all under a climate-controlled glass dome. It’s not Disneyland, but for kids under 12 it’s a solid half-day of entertainment. Ride passes run $20-40. The Circus Circus midway upstairs has free circus acts (trapeze, acrobatics) every 30 minutes.
Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay
A 1.3-million-gallon aquarium with sharks, rays, sea turtles, jellyfish, crocodiles, and a shipwreck exhibit you walk through. The touch pool lets kids handle horseshoe crabs and rays. It’s compact enough for young attention spans (60-90 minutes) and air-conditioned. Tickets around $25-30.
High Roller Observation Wheel
The world’s tallest observation wheel at 550 feet — taller than the London Eye. Each rotation takes 30 minutes in enclosed, air-conditioned pods with 360-degree views of the Strip and surrounding mountains. Daytime rides are cheaper; the nighttime ride with the Strip lit up is more impressive. There’s a Happy Half Hour option with an open bar in the pod for adults.
AREA15 — Immersive Experiences
AREA15 is a 200,000-square-foot experiential entertainment complex on the west side with art installations, immersive experiences, and a Meow Wolf exhibit (Omega Mart — a surreal, interactive art installation disguised as a grocery store). It’s genuinely unlike anything else in Vegas. Older kids and teens will love it. Omega Mart tickets run $45-55.
Outdoor Family Activities
Springs Preserve has nature trails, gardens, a butterfly habitat, and interactive science exhibits — educational and outdoors. Wetlands Park in Henderson has easy walking trails with bird-watching. Red Rock Canyon (30 minutes west) has short, family-friendly hikes. Lake Mead has swimming beaches and pedal boat rentals. These are the antidote to the sensory overload of the Strip.
Kid-Friendly Shows
Tournament of Kings at Excalibur is a dinner show with jousting knights — kids love it. Blue Man Group is family-friendly, hilarious, and interactive. Mac King Comedy Magic Show is an afternoon show perfect for families — genuinely funny clean comedy and magic. Most Cirque du Soleil shows are appropriate for kids 5+ (Mystère and LOVE are the best choices).
