The biography
The anchor is a proper history: the coaster that wraps New York-New York was born the Manhattan Express in 1997, later renamed the Big Apple Coaster, and has been famous — 'leaving you slightly bruised' — ever since. The episode gets technical in the best way: the subway-themed station at the back of the hotel, the 203-foot lift hill climbed outside the casino, and the trick in the numbers — the drop is only 144 feet because most of the ride runs on the casino roof, 14 stories up, with skyline views no other coaster offers. If you watch one film here, make it this one; the POVs below mean more after it.
The ride, old and new
Two front-seat films bracket the coaster's modern change. The 2017 POV is pure ride audio — the lift up the New York skyline, the dive loop and the heartline twist over the roof (watch content). The 2014 POV is the famous one: ridden as the Manhattan Express, fresh from a rehab, with full rider commentary at volume — the lift hill 'looks like tombstones and pain,' the loop is 'the only smooth part of the ride,' and the host exits declaring himself possibly dead. Both predate the fix that matters, and our catalog states it in the summary: the coaster has since been renamed and re-fitted with new trains (2021) — the 2014 film is the old beast, documented, not the current ride's verdict. A 2025 coast-to-coast Vegas vlog rides the current version among the city's coasters and rates it as the skyline coaster it is (the same film anchors our Adventuredome page).
Below it
The ground floor gets two films: a four-and-a-half-minute look inside the Big Apple Arcade, the games floor under the coaster's home tower (music and machine noise; watch content — a quick check for families weighing the resort), and the resort's standard orientation walkthrough (2023), which passes the coaster's home turf with the resort's cheap eats mapped — Greenberg's Deli, 48th and Crepe, Tom's Urban's patio, out to The Park. Our New York-New York page covers the resort in full; this page is its steel exclamation point.
