Best Shows in Las Vegas — Cirque, Comedy, Music & Magic
Cirque du Soleil — The Vegas Staples
Cirque du Soleil has more permanent shows in Las Vegas than anywhere else in the world. “O” at Bellagio is the crown jewel — a water-based spectacle performed in and above a 1.5-million-gallon pool that’s been running since 1998 and still sells out. Mystère at Treasure Island is the original Vegas Cirque (since 1993) — pure acrobatics and physical theater with no gimmicks. KÀ at MGM Grand is the most technically ambitious, with a stage that rotates and lifts the entire set vertically. LOVE at The Mirage is the Beatles tribute — Cirque acrobatics set to remastered Beatles music. Mad Apple at New York-New York is the newest and most comedy-forward.
Resident Headliners
Vegas has shifted from one-night concerts to multi-year residencies by the world’s biggest artists. As of 2026, check current listings — residencies rotate, but the venues include The Colosseum at Caesars (capacity 4,300, where Celine Dion played for 16 years), Dolby Live at Park MGM, The Theatre at Resorts World, and Allegiant Stadium for the biggest acts. Recent and current headliners have included Adele, Usher, Garth Brooks, and Lady Gaga. Residency tickets are expensive ($100-500+) but the production value is extraordinary — these aren’t touring shows, they’re built specifically for these venues.
Comedy Shows
Vegas comedy ranges from legendary headliners to late-night showcases. Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at MGM Grand — hosted by the Everybody Loves Raymond star with rotating headliners. Aces of Comedy at The Mirage features rotating A-list comedians (Jerry Seinfeld, David Spade, Ray Romano). Delirious Comedy Club downtown is a smaller, grittier room with genuine surprise factor. Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Excalibur is an afternoon show that’s been running for 20+ years — genuinely funny magic at a bargain price.
Magic Shows
Penn & Teller at the Rio is the longest-running headliner show in Vegas — irreverent, intellectual magic that treats the audience like adults. David Copperfield at MGM Grand is the most famous magician alive, performing nightly with illusions on a scale nobody else attempts. Criss Angel MINDFREAK at Planet Hollywood is the most production-heavy magic show on the Strip. For close-up magic, Mat Franco at The LINQ won America’s Got Talent and does intimate, crowd-interactive magic.
Adult Shows
Vegas has a range of adult-oriented entertainment. Absinthe at Caesars Palace is the best-reviewed show in Vegas — a raunchy, hilarious variety show performed in a tiny tent on the Caesars plaza. It’s not for the easily offended, but it’s brilliant. Opium by the same producers at The Cosmopolitan is similarly irreverent. Zombie Burlesque at Planet Hollywood mixes comedy and burlesque. Magic Mike Live (various venues) is the male revue based on the film franchise.
How to Get Tickets
TodayTix and Vegas.com often have discounted show tickets. Tix4Tonight booths on the Strip sell same-day discount tickets (up to 50% off) — there are booths at Fashion Show Mall, Casino Royale, and several other locations. Groupon occasionally has show deals. For headliner residencies, buy directly from the venue — resale markup on these is steep. Weeknight shows are almost always cheaper than Friday/Saturday. Tip: many shows offer locals’ discounts — ask at the box office even if you’re a tourist, some are lenient.
