Sun Splash Park is the great Daytona compromise: a free Volusia County beachfront park just south of the Main Street Pier, where the swimmers get ramp access to the Atlantic and everyone else gets a 42-jet freshwater splash pad. The lead film counts what a family actually needs: 162 parking spots, jets shooting four to six feet, and the tap-to-start post that restarts the water cycle.
The park's two halves
Beach side: hard sand, lifeguarded water, the pier in view. Park side: the splash pad, picnic shelters, restrooms and showers. The county's own film and two family visits show the combination in full summer use — this is a local family's park that visitors are welcome to borrow, and the parking lot runs sunrise to sunset as filmed.
A walk with Daytona history attached
The boardwalk-to-park walking film is half tour, half reckoning: its host, back twenty years after teenage spring breaks, passes the vacant lots where the amusement park and auto museum stood and tells the spring-break story honestly — what the city chased away, and what Bike Week kept alive. The park anchors the walk's end, still doing its job in the pier's shadow.
Who it's for
Families with mixed swimmers, anyone with small kids who need fresh water and shade on rotation, and beach days on a zero-dollar budget. Nothing here pretends to be an attraction park; it is a well-kept county park at the ocean, which is exactly its value.
