The Peabody Auditorium is Daytona Beach's oceanfront concert hall — a working touring room across from the Ocean Center, with the beach a block behind it. Almost nobody films the building itself (the street-level walk that opens this page, sculpture out front and Hilton down the block, is the exception), so this page tells the Peabody's story the way its audiences experienced it: through the shows.
The country years
Two legends anchor the set. Merle Haggard's full February 2011 concert — 25 minutes of his late-career touring form, stories and all — and a medley from Loretta Lynn's September 2013 performance, the country queen on this stage in her later years. The Belmonts' 2015 'Runaround Sue' adds the doo-wop matinee circuit that has long been Peabody programming.
Still a working rock room
The hall hasn't retired into nostalgia: KK's Priest — the Judas Priest spin-off — filled it with a full-set 4K metal show, and Vandenberg played a leap-day rock show in February 2024, both fan-shot in full. The contrast with the country films is the point: one room, every circuit.
The community stage
The Peabody's own sizzle reel shows Catapult, the shadow-dance company — the touring spectacle end of its calendar — and a News-Journal clip catches the Orlando Philharmonic performing for Volusia County fifth-graders, the hall in its schools-and-community role. Whatever is on, the room a block off the beach is where Daytona sits down indoors.
