The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America museum sits inside Daytona International Speedway, in the former Daytona USA building — and it is included with the speedway tour ticket, which is how most visitors find it. What they find inside is the whole of American motorsport in one floor: drag racing, land speed, sports cars, Indy cars, motorcycles, boats and stock cars.
The headline machines
The walk-throughs keep returning to the same icons: Don Garlits' Swamp Rat dragsters, Shirley Muldowney's cars, Mickey Thompson's Challenger One — 406 mph on the salt — and the Victory Lane exhibit, which displays the current Daytona 500 winner's car. One film caught the museum days after the 500, when the winning car was still being readied for its spot.
Exhibits rotate — no two visits match
The host of the complete walk-through stresses the point: the collection rotates, so the museum you tour this year is not the one in these films. A family walk-through reads the placards with a kid's-eye patience; a no-commentary film walks every gallery in silence; and an unhurried Thai-language tour loads here as watch content — the floor speaks for itself.
Visiting notes from the films
Salty Sarah's tour review is the practical close: she booked the basic tour on arrival with a ten-minute wait on a weekday, and the Hall finished the day — a hit, she admits, even for a non-racing fan. Weekdays are far quieter, parking is easy, and tram boarding involves a big step worth knowing about for mobility planning.
