For more than fifty years, the go-kart park at 4114 South Nova Road in Port Orange was Go-Kart City — a local institution of timed laps, mini golf and arcade noise. In 2023 new owners bought it, closed it, and rebuilt it as Tiki Adventure Zone — and unusually, they filmed the whole transformation themselves. This page is that story, before and after.
The before: the park locals remember
Helmet-camera laps of the old track, karts running in the rain for the fun of the slide, a tour of the old arcade, and a full 18-hole family round on the Mystic Harbor mini golf course in 2022 — water hazards lived up to, a two-stroke winning margin. This is the park three generations of locals grew up in, preserved by its own visitors.
The rebuild, update by update
The owners' May 2023 walk-through of the closed park lays out the plan: remodeled arcade building, fenced and enclosed grounds, a junior kart track, batting cages, the Mystic Harbor golf kept, zip lines. The May 2024 update shows permits finally in hand, a new barrier system the owners call one of the safest in Florida, and GPS-tracked karts. By August 2024 the repaved track, timing system, batting lanes and kart garage stood about 90% done, permits holding the opening.
Opening day
It ends October 25, 2024: the finished park toured on opening day — counter and tap-card system, a full arcade with a motion driving simulator, seven batting-cage lanes, the mini golf entrance and the repaved lot. Lap times are the product now: the karts are timed and GPS-tracked, a long way from the old park's honor system — and the same red-roofed plot of Nova Road the whole way through.
