Free Things to Do in Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach has been ranked #1 in the US multiple times — and walking on it is free. Beyond the sand, the nightly Pier 60 celebration and the Gulf Coast nature make for a full day without spending.

Beach & Pier 60 (Free)

Clearwater Beach — Sugar-white sand, calm turquoise Gulf water, and lifeguards in season. Free to access from any public walkover. The beach is wide and there’s room for everyone, even in peak season.

Pier 60 Sunset Celebration — Every evening, two hours before sunset through two hours after, Pier 60 hosts a free festival with artisans, street performers, and musicians. The sunset over the Gulf from the pier is one of the best free shows in Florida.

Nature (Free/Low-Cost)

Caladesi Island State Park — One of the few undeveloped barrier islands left in Florida. Accessible by ferry from Honeymoon Island ($8 ferry round trip). The beach has been named #1 in America. Nature trails through the island interior.

Sand Key Park — A quieter alternative to the main Clearwater Beach. Free parking, boardwalk, nature area, and excellent shelling.

Walking & Exploring

Clearwater Beach Walk — A paved beachside promenade that runs along the Gulf from Clearwater Pass to Pier 60. Walking, jogging, and cycling. Free.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium exterior — While the aquarium itself has admission, the waterfront area and gift shop are free to browse. Views of the bay from the outdoor deck.
