Best Restaurants in Atlantic City — Casino Dining, Boardwalk & Italian

Best Restaurants in Atlantic City

Atlantic City’s food scene has been transformed by the casino resorts — celebrity chef outposts, high-end steakhouses, and Asian restaurants that rival NYC’s. But the best eating in AC also includes old-school Italian, Boardwalk classics, and the sub shops that locals line up for.

Casino Resort Dining

Buddakan (Caesars) — The Philadelphia import. Pan-Asian in a dramatic multi-level space. The edamame dumplings and the crispy calamari salad are signatures.

Izakaya by Michael Schulson (Borgata) — Japanese small plates, sushi, and robata grill. Excellent cocktails. One of the best restaurants in AC.

Old Homestead Steakhouse (Borgata) — Gotham-style steakhouse with dry-aged cuts, lobster, and an old-school power-lunch atmosphere.

Italian

Angelo’s Fairmount Tavern (Ducktown) — Since 1935. Red-sauce Italian in Atlantic City’s Italian neighborhood. Meatballs, eggplant parm, and pasta with Sunday gravy. The kind of restaurant that doesn’t exist anymore in most cities.

Chef Vola’s (hidden, no sign) — The worst-kept secret in AC. A BYOB Italian restaurant in a basement with no sign on the door. The food is extraordinary — veal, seafood, and homemade pasta. Reservations-only (call ahead, sometimes weeks). Cash only.

Boardwalk & Quick

White House Sub Shop — Since 1946. The Italian sub at White House is one of the best sandwiches on the East Coast. Fresh bread, capicola, salami, and provolone stacked high. Frank Sinatra used to have them shipped to Las Vegas.

Tony’s Baltimore Grill — Boardwalk-adjacent pizza and Italian. Open late. A post-casino tradition since 1927.

Craft Beer

Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall — Craft beer bar in the Orange Loop (AC’s emerging restaurant district). Local and regional taps, a chill atmosphere, and the center of AC’s non-casino nightlife.
