Ames Park Just South Of Route 40
History comes alive in this charming little park along the Halifax River. It was on this 2.2 acre site that the last living American Civil War full-rank general, Adelbert Ames, chose to build a home. The personalities of Mrs. Ames and their daughter come to life through whimsical, concrete sculptures throughout the beautifully landscaped park and the informative display in the gazebo. The walrus that Mrs. Ames sculpted still peeks above the river’s surface near the wooden dock.
Ames Park is truly a treasure. This downtown oasis, located at 195 S Beach St, Ormond Beach, is the perfect place to get away from the crowds. Paths adorned with native plants and flowers invite you to relax and unwind. The “Bask in the Sun” concrete enclave at the edge of the water invites you to do just that. There are docks, ponds, fountains, benches, picnic areas, restrooms, and parking. Come! Experience the beauty, history, wildlife, and serenity. Your soul will thank you.
In addition, the Ormond Burial Mound is right across the street. Ames Park is open from sunrise to sunset and is available for rental for wedding and family celebrations.

Ames Park is located at 195 S Beach St, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Before you cross over the river to go to the beach, head down Beach street from route 40. Beach Street turns into Riverside Drive but remains along thee river. There are several parks along this road.
